Adopt A Pet

Each year, more than 1,700 homeless animals are united with caring people through the efforts of Geauga Humane Society.

Adoption Process
Visit our shelter to view our terrific cats, kittens, dogs and puppies. Our friendly staff members will assist you with meeting an animal in one of our four get-aquainted rooms. Prospective adopters are asked to complete profiles to help the shelter staff match them with just the right animals.

Animals with injuries and illnesses requiring veterinary care are treated in our on-site clinic and given plenty of time to mend under the watchful eyes of our staff. Staff members and volunteer members of our TLC Club spend hours getting to know the animals and helping them feel loved during their time at the shelter. If an animal is a bit unruly, it is given some training by our volunteer Homeward Bound Trainers to make it a more desirable companion.

If you have a resident dog and are looking to adopt a second or third dog from Rescue Village, we will assist you with a meet & greet onsite at Rescue Village.

Adopt a Barn Cat (ABC) Program - Rescue Village's Adopt a Barn Cat Program is about targeting barn homes in our rural community where specific cats, mostly strays, will have a wonderful quality of life. The ABC Program redefines a "good home" and gives a second chance to stray cats.

Adoptable barn cats have been carefully identified and selected by our experienced staff and excludes de-clawed cats or those who have come to us from strictly indoor homes. ABC cat owners will be expected to provide food, water, veterinary care and companionship for their new barn cat. All cats adopted from Rescue Village are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and tested for feline leukemia; the adoption fee for a barn cat is $75.

If you have a barn and are looking for a good barn cat, please call us at 440-338-4819, ext. 12.

For adoption information, contact us at 440.338.4819 ext. 10 or email info@geaugahumane.org.
