Dulcie
Our family adopted a dog from Rescue Village. Dulcie was adopted last year and has been doing well at her new home. She has been a good dog, and plays well with kids and our two cats. We just wanted to let you know that she is a happy dog and has been a great addition to the family.
Thanks,
The Reids

Finbar and Jameson
Just a big, big thank you for having these 2 beautiful boys available when I was there April 1.
They have been a great addition to the household and keep us smiling every day. Attached is a photo of 3 of our 5 kitties- the kitty on the left is Cooper, in the middle is Jameson (Jamie) (was Tweety) and to the right is Finbar (Fin) (was Sylvester). They’ve made fast friends with Cooper and the romping only stops for eating and sleeping – and sniffing the outside! Again many thanks for having these kitties and for all the work you do.

Libby and Gina

We adopted Libby & Gina together from Rescue Village at the end of 2010. We had looked at Libby several times but it wasn't until we went in to get her that we noticed Gina in the common room. She was so beautiful and when we heard her story (that she was rejected by a previous family because of her shyness) we knew we had the perfect, quiet home for her.
At exactly the six week mark since we brought her home, she marched up onto the bed, walked right over to us and plopped herself down next to me. She has been there ever since. It was like WE were on a 6-week probation and she finally decided we were OK. Now they compete for being petted and my husband makes them special treats. They are sweet kitties!
I always tell people, it was a happy day when we adopted THEM at the end of December, but that's NOTHING compared to the wonderful feeling when you realize that they had finally adopted US!
Thanks to all the staff and volunteers at Rescue Village who make Happy Endings possible.

Luna and Fraggle

Thank you so much for the two best dogs we could have asked for! Fraggle and Luna were an instant click! They sleep with each other on the bed or couch. Fraggle and Luna don't leave my side and they are both learning so much-they will both be going to doggie classes. When we go to my dads house, watching these two malinois play is the funnist thing in the world.... we couldnt have asked for a better match. They are the sweetest pups...THANKS SO MUCH!
Oscar
My husband, Sean, and I adopted Oscar from Rescue Village in October 2008 and our lives have been forever changed. He is the best thing that ever happened to us and I could not imagine my life without him and the joy he brings. The best part of my day is seeing his happy face (sometimes he actually smiles at me) and wagging tail when I come home from work, no matter what kind of day I have had he always makes me feel happy. The love of a dog is priceless because it is unconditional and unending, I only wish they could live forever!
Thank you Rescue Village for all that you do and for providing a temporary home for the animals that come across your path until they find their forever home. I am so grateful for my Oscar!
Sincerely,
Laura Breyley

Houdini
Thank you for Houdini, the kitten we adopted from you. We drove from Erie, PA after seeing her on your web page. Her name is now Splinter because as we recall she was found in a woodpile.
Our other cat puffed up his tail, arched his back and wailed when he first saw herbut quickly cuddled with her and became her buddy. She is so cute, smart and full of personality that she’s impossible not to love! One of her favorite things to do is crawl under blankets and play!
Thank you for giving the animals that you care for another chance. You touch the lives of both the animals and the new owners. Few gifts more happiness can bring.
Best,
Nancy and Karl Larson
Daphi
Dear Rescue Village,
We love Daphi so much! He is such a good boy. We were fostering him, but had to keep him! He was not even two pounds when we got him and now he is 6 pounds - big enough to go outside all by himself. He loves to follow our other cat everywhere.
Thank you so much!
Schmoog ee
I volunteer on Sunday's and one weekend I switched shifts to a Saturday when I first saw Schmoogee as a 5 month old puppy. I immediately fell in love, but it was not so simple as just adopting her. We fostered her, then she was adopted, and we dog sat, and I visited her. Then the family called to say they were not coming to pick her up, and 8 weeks after I saw her sitting in her condo at RV she was ours!
The picture is of Asher and Schmoogee hanging out at South Chagrin Reservation.
Nina (formerly Denna)
This is Nina (Denna) that I adopted last July. She was extremely shy as I was told when I picked her. Now she is always waiting for me when I get home. She is very affectionate and quite talkative. I am so glad I picked her, she is a warm and loving addition to my family of one. I am so happy we found each other.
Thank you very much,
Nina’s Mom
Meena (formerly Mitzi)
I came into Rescue Village with a vision of my "perfect kitty" in mind. I had looked online and picked one that I wanted to meet and was sure I would take that kitty home. Ann asked me if I would be willing to meet another cat that was not out on the adoption floor. She brought Meena and I was hooked.
Meena is somewhat of a Facebook celebrity on my page, a new picture is posted of her just about everyday! Meena has brought so much joy to my life. I am so thankful t o Ann for making such a perfect match and for all the work she put into Meena at Rescue Village in order for her to be adopted. Thank you for my quirky kitty who keeps me very entertained.
Meena's Mom,
Stacey
Indy
We had been looking at adopting puppies for a while now, so when we came across the pictures of Indy and his siblings, we had to try and adopt him. Our 7 year old daughter would sit with my wife and I and look at the adoptable animals on the web site every night. We adopted Indy on the 18th and he h as been a total joy to have in our family! He has taken to our older Pomeranian, Shiloh, and has made us all so very happy. He runs and plays with any and everyone he meets. We love him so much, and wanted to thank everyone who helped us with the adoption! He is a welcome and loving addition to our family!
Thank you so much!
Bart, Tiffany, and Katrina Washington
Holly (now Luna)
We just adopted Holly the other day and only being a couple days she's made such
improvements its amazing! Already learning stay, lay down and back up! She is a
complete knuckle head and does somersaults if your doing something like the
dishes ...she sits watching you and then she starts entertaining herself in the
goofyist ways! She goes on 4-5 walks a day and she's just loving car
rides! Just yesterday we were outside in the backyard and she's laying on the
ground with a giant orange tom cat kneeding her tummy and she was completely
calm - the two are inseperable... she seems to be fitting right in and no real
problems at all! We want to thank you guys so much!! We love our new addition
and can't wait to introduce her to new things this summer!
-Brooke
Tony C. (now Dexter)
Hello!
Tony C. couldn't be doing better. After just a few days we're discovering his true identity... an affection sponge. He will take as much as we can give and just wants more. After lengthy sessions, he will still come up to us as we pass by his pen and stretch up to us then put his nose down to the ground hopeful of more petting.
Catherine was the first to be able to pick him up without complaint and he likes being in her lap. You can see him taking a rest in one of the pictures. I can pick him up and carry him around now as well, though it takes some comforting. But we're becoming buddies too. If I get down to his level he enjoys bumping noses with me then puts his head beneath my chin and waits to be petted.
He's also an explorer and a clever one at that. He knows when we block areas off that he has seen and wants to get to, and he'll stand at the barrier and stomp at us. And he has a naughty streak a mile wide.
Thank you!
John & Catherine
Stella and Ginger
Hard to believe it has been one year already, since Stella and Ginger came home with me one Sunday afternoon. These cuties were littermates and new residents by just a few days at Rescue village, when I stopped by to see their brother. Yep,thought he was the one...little did I know. As luck would have it(yes, lucky for me)...brother was adopted earlier in the day. To my surprise, his two sisters were on each side of his kennel, all three... six months young and waiting for new homes.
After visiting with Stella and Ginger separately...I really couldn't make up my mind. We stopped Stella in front of Ginger's kennel on the way back and the girl's immediately recognized each other...tails wagging and crying for each other between the cage door. That was the moment I was in trouble!
Well, I couldn't leave either pup and the rest is just the beginning! After one week of adjusting to yet another home...they've been a blast. We immediately enrolled in puppy training with Grandma's and our manners are the bomb now! They're show offs, keeping each other company during the day and goofing off all evening!
Looking back, how lucky it was their brother was already adopted! Otherwise,I would have missed out on these two charmers!!

Diamond
Just thought I’d drop you a little note about Diamond, the little pup we adopted last night. She is sooooo sweet! Extremely affectionate and relaxed! She gets along great with our other coonhound, Jake. She loves her new home, and slept on my pillow last night :)
Many thanks! We love our new addition to our little family.
-Anne Meissner
Princee (formerly Princess Toes)
Just want you to know how we enjoy "Princess Toes." She is a delight to our small family - very affectionate! Like to lap-sit. She plays up a storm with her toys. At her check up last July she had gained 2 pounds (my fault!) Doing great. Thanks again!
Hope you all have a safe and nice holiday and a great New Year!!
-Ed & Hazel
Lexi
We want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Here's a picture of Lexi who we adopted from you almost 2 years ago. She is a sweetheart and she is perfect in every way. She goes with us almsot everywhere we go. She has a home here forever. She loves rides, walks and treats.
Thank you for such a great pet,
Ann, Chuck, Lexi & Killy
Emily and Rosie
We just wanted to thank you again for introducing us to Claire and Riesling. We took them home with us on November 19th. While it was an interesting challenge to bring a full-grown cat and a 3-month old kitten from differing families home to live together with, they are doing VERY well. We thought you might like to share the first “cuddle fest” in which we found them together, with your staff and volunteers who would have known them. Claire is now “Emily,” in honor of a girlfriend whose birthday is November 19th. Riesling is now “Rosie,” named after Katherine Hepburn as Rosie in the movie, African Queen. Ms. Hepburn and Rosie the kitty share, shall we say, a very strong will!
The girls are doing very well and are very happy to follow us around 24/7. That is, when they’re not sleeping, eating or playing together.
Best,
Suzanne and Mark Carle
Domino
Hello Good People of Rescue Village,
I wanted to give you an update about our boy. He was "Ninja" when he was in your care and has since been renamed Domino!

Approaching Thanksgiving Day, I begin to think of the things that I am grateful to have in my life. Even though Domino is a huge (literally & figuratively) work in progress, he is a happy addition to our family. We work on his training every day since I don't think he received much attention in that department until he was rescued by your organization.
We have enjoyed him for almost 3 months now and have seen progress. He definitely is a people dog. He is never far from our side. He is a perfect playmate/brother to our other dog, Jackie. They were friends the moment they met. He is also a loving "brother" to our daughter; he has always been kind and gentle with her. Thank you for taking care of him for us. Keep up the good work!
Rob, Tammy and Laney Noska
Eleanor
Elly is doing great.
She is super-smart, obedient, friendly and gentle. The perfect dog. My office
is in my home, so we are together every day. She is an ideal
companion.
Elly has adapted to our home easily. She only ever had one accident, which was our fault
for making her wait too long to go outside. Best of all, with new energy and
freedom, she is learning to play and fetch. We don’t think she ever had toys
before. She is like a puppy, constantly learning new games. She also quickly
learned basic commands – sit, down and stay. She walks well on her leash and is
able to walk about a mile around the block. The hills still tire her a little
bit, but she is much stronger than at first.

She is
growing new lush hair in all the previously bare areas on all four legs, tail,
back, neck, chest, belly etc. To keep her warm this winter, she is also
developing a new undercoat over her entire body. Only a few small spots at the
base of her tail and back still show black, and we think they are beginning to
improve, too. She is a beauty, and when the new growth fills out fully, no one
will ever know what she went through.
Elly thanks you all
for your care and for finding her a new home. So do we! Thanks
again,
Jim and Nancy

Rupert
Dear Rescue Village,
This summer I visited the shelter to adopt a companion for my lonely two year old cat, Keira. After spending five minutes in the adoption room with "Iron Man," now "Rupert," I knew he would be a perfect fit for us. In the short time that we have had Rupert, he and Keira have become inseparable--they play together, eat together and sleep together. As he starts to get bigger, his personality shines even brighter and makes him that much more lovable. His favorite thing to do is worm his way under anything that seems like a den--under the dishwasher as it is being loaded, under the kitchen rug or under blankets.
I wanted to write and say thank you because Rupert has not only wormed his way in and out of every hiding spot in the house, he has wormed his way into our hearts--a spot he will never find his way out of!
Thank you again!
Elizabeth
Clover

I wanted to send you a picture of "Rosie", whom we adopted Saturday...now "Clover" and "Kona" together today! She is doing well. Already knows sit for a treat!

Derby
Today is Derby’s 2 month anniversary of adoption and has claimed ownership to a spot on top of the couch by the front window! Derby just loves sitting out in the back yard as he feels the sun & wind on his little face. He is still timid of people and just likes being on the couch. He has a new friend “Susie” and having another dog around to show him what dogs do is a great help. Since Derby was a “special needs” dog and belonged to the “Lonely Hearts Club” every new positive step is greeted with “you’re the man Derby”. He cannot help but melt your heart.
His Mom,
Kris
Zora
Just wanted to share a picture of Zora and her best friend, Lotus :) Back in
July, when we adopted her, we had a whole slow introduction planned for the 2 of
them. The 3rd day, Zora jumped the baby gate and ran right up to Lotus and
nuzzled her face. They've been buddies since :) Zora follows her around
everywhere and they both greet me at the door when I come home. Thanks again for
helping us complete our family!

Cosette
I brought Cosette (Nook) home from Rescue Village one year ago. She was a frightened little cat and had some intestinal problems. She now enjoys perfect health and is the most gentle and loving cat who has ever shared my home. She is still a bit wary of people, but as you can see she gets along very well with her good pal, Rumblepurr (gray). The decision to bring her home was made very quickly when I learned that she needed a quiet place, but it was one of my best. I love her with all of my heart and I think the feeling is mutual!!!! I volunteer and work with cats at the shelter and one thing I’ve learned....the frightened cats just blossom when they are given a loving home.

Pedro
Thought you all might enjoy seeing Pedro at his new forever home. Pedro lives with a miniature donkey, several alpacas and yes, his best friend- a camel! They are inseparable.
Hooray for Rescue Village’s barn program and happy endings!

Valerie
Hello all,
Just wanted to take the
opportunity to let you all know that Valerie is doing well. As you all know,
Valerie was a special needs pooch. Although we still have a ways to go, we have
had her a little over 9 months now, and have made great progress with her. She
loves her daily walks and loves to run in her big fenced in back yard! She is
settling in well, we now get kisses, lot's of tail wags and she even lets us hug
her and give her smooches at times. She is better with her mom (me) than her
dad - she seems to have a fear of men - but we are working on that. She is
getting better with her socialization and is starting to learn that she can
trust us and believe that we would never hurt her. We knew when we brought her
home that this was going to be a project with some time involved with it and we
believe we still have a ways to go. But, we are going there together the 3 of
us. Just wanted you all to know that we are getting there.
Valerie is becoming a happy dog
who is starting to believe she runs the house!!

Turbo
Dear Animal Rescue Village,
We adopted Turbo from you in August of 2009. He is
an AWESOME dog. Turbo loves to play ball, go for walks at The Holden Arboretum,
take car rides to the barn, and to just hang out with our three children at
home. He is also very gentle and has been a great companion to our 13 year old
greyhound, Eli. We are so lucky to have Turbo. Thank you Animal Rescue Village
and Susan W. for finding the perfect dog for our family.
We are so very grateful!
Sincerely,
The Tyminski Family

Doogie
THANK YOU! This is the first night that Doogie is home with me. HE IS FINALLY ASLEEP! He was a scared little Beagle at the shelter. When he walked into my home, there was NO anxiety, no fear and he became a WILD MAN! I watched this sad, scared dog just TAKE OVER my house. He's INSANE. When I had to correct him, he growled at me, so I humanely let him know I was the alpha and he was o.k. with it. He licked my face after the whole standoff.
My whole house is in love with this little Beagle, who is cute, sweet, a thief!, and has already become Scooter's "big brother". The little mini Schuanzer named Scooter who thinks she's 400 pounds LOVES Doogie and this is how cute they were - they fell asleep together an he put his paw and his snout over her.
I love your facility, I ADORE your staff (Kat, Shannon and Lily are AMAZING!) , I admire your volunteers and most importantly, you matched me with a crazy, goofy dog. I'm a Senior Creative Director and Professor of Graphic Design so I'm a little crazy and goofy too! He won't respond to "Doogie" but WILL respond to "Maverick". Aptly named, no?
I'll always be grateful.
Sincerely - Kate L.

Babe (now Gimli)
We met “Babe” after we had to have our cat Geisha put to
sleep. We stopped by Rescue Village while returning from the vet. I know it
sounds weird, but both of us just needed a warm fuzzy animal to ease our sadness.
My wife saw “Babe” in one of the visitation rooms and walked in. “Babe”
immediately jumped up to one of the shelves at her level and began rubbing her
nose with his. I came in a few minutes later and played with “Babe” for a few
minutes. Our time had to be cut short as it was closing time. We went home and
went through the grieving process of our Geisha.
We realized a few days later
that not having a cat in our home just didn’t seem right, like a missing family
member. So on that Friday we came back and to our dismay the shelter was closed
early. So we vowed to be back first thing Saturday morning. Saturday early
afternoon we came back and started the process of choosing a cat. After playing
with 5-6 of them, “Babe” was our final choice. We brought him straight home and
confined him to our bedroom.
At first he was very nervous and out of sorts.
After the first few days he was out and playing with us. It took another couple
of days to get him to come downstairs. He hissed at our dog a few times and
would run each time she would come into the area.
It’s been almost a month now
and this picture shows him sleeping on the back of our couch. He is now known as
Gimli after our favorite movie/book series The Lord of the Rings. Other than an
occasional wake up at 3am with him wanting to play he has been a great addition
to our home. We are thrilled with him! Gimli even loves our dog. The wife and I
are total believers in adopting/ rescuing animals and try to encourage our
friends to adopt/ rescue. So many need good homes and love.
Thank you so much for all that Rescue Village
does!

Gabby (Mona)
I would like to thank Rescue Village for helping us find Gabby (Mona) she has
been a wonderful addition to our family and is very spoiled. When we walked by
her cage she reached out her paw and touch my mom on the cheek. That was all it
took.

Jaeger - now known as Ace

In July of this year I returned home from vacation to my empty house and decided I needed a 4-legged roomate. The following day I went to the Rescue Village. I was shown around by Becky, and after going over what I wanted from a pet, she introduced me to Ace. He is a perfect addition to my family!
He loves to look out the window, go for walks, and sleep in his very own bed. I am so happy I decided to adopt him and took Becky's suggestion. Thanks so much!!!

Harper (formerly known as Spirit)
To the whole Staff at Rescue Village,
On June 17, 2010 I adopted a little Border Collie mix puppy. You folks had named him Spirit and although we have changed his name to Harper, he has been just the medicine my spirit needed. I felt so lost after we had to put our 14 year German Shepard down and this little guy filled up that empty space!!
He is a sweet, affectionate, smart, great little guy! With this being the season of giving thanks- I want to say thank you to everybody there for all you do to help animals find forever homes with the right people. Thank you for my Harper!!! And if you ever need a poster dog- he is the guy for the job as you can see by his photos.
Gratefully,
Donna S.

Sydney (previously known as Juno)
In the summer of 2008, we stopped in to see if they had any puppies put up for
adoption. The nice woman at the front desk asked us, "What are you looking for?"
Our response: "Anything but a husky." Living in the city, we didn't know if we
could handle the high energy of the breed.

She laughed and told us to go
in the back where we saw 6 beautiful 8 week-old husky-mix puppies. When looking
at the descriptions, we picked out Juno because she was one of the two small
puppies and "played well with the big guys".
We loved her immediately
and brought her home with us. 2 years later, we have such a loyal and energetic
member of the family named Sydney. She has playdates with her friends and gets
to go on walks along Lake Erie. She has made her mark in a house with 3 cats,
and we couldn't imagine our lives without her.

Vernon
Hi,
When I adopted Vernon from Rescue Village one year ago he was a member of
the "Lonely Hearts Club." I knew that Vernon was the cat for me when I first saw
him, and couldn't believe that no one else had chosen him. He was scared and
nervous when I first brought him home, and spent the entire first day laying
under the kitchen table. Fortunately, he quickly adapted to his new home and we
are both extremely happy.
Vernon loves playing with his toys, and is very
skilled at tossing a ball into the air with his mouth and then batting it with
his paw! Maybe the Indians should recruit him! He has a quiet but affectionate
personality and is very easy to share a home with. One of his favorite sleeping
areas is the screened-in porch, and he often likes to sleep next to me and use
my arm as his pillow. He loves it when I read aloud or speak to him in French.
In the past few years I had lost 2 elderly cats, and I am very happy to have a
new companion in Vernon. I couldn't have hoped for a sweeter cat. Thanks, Rescue
Village, for taking such good care of him and giving me the chance to adopt such
a great cat!

Duke
A week and a half after we brought Duke
home, our son Max had a grand mal seizure in his sleep. He had never had one
before. When we got to his room, we found Duke laying on his bed with his ears
back. When the paramedics came into his room, they were not greeted with the
typically playfully and energetic Duke. Instead, Duke held on his ground next to
Max and we had to pull him by his scruff to get him off the bed so the
paramedics could help Max.
Last night, Duke spent the entire night
pacing the house, barking, whining, and even woke our daughter up knowing that
would get us out of bed. Even after we let him out in the middle of the night,
we couldn't figure out why he was so restless. He has never done this before. We
were starting to get frustrated until we were awoken again at 6 a.m. to the
sound of Max having another seizure. There he was again at Max's side. We
realized he was trying to let us know what was coming.
We saw Duke by accident. He wasn't ready
to be adopted when we first saw him, but he found us. He popped that sweet face
up between the bars back in the kennels so we'd see him, and a week later we
brought him home. He has been a great family dog, but the fact that he has taken
on the duty of seizure alerting has touched our lives. We knew we wanted a dog,
but he let us know that we needed him. We are grateful to the family that had
him before us for taking him in, and to Rescue Village for making him available
to us.
Luna AKA Luna Bear AKA Luna Tuna Bear is a fabulous addition to our family. The girls, Kelcey, Sammy and Zhen just love her. She gets along well with our other dogs. We are still working on the cat introduction. They have never seen a dog this large. She is down from 127 pounds to 116 only 35 more to go per the Vet! It would be much easier if she didn't pick every single green bean out of her food.
Kelcey reads to her every night and Luna Tuna Bear sleeps in her bedroom. The other dogs are jealous as they have to sleep in dogs beds in Mom and Dad's room.
Thank you for letting us be a part of her life.

Bob (previously Tinker)
We have three older cats, so we
needed a kitten who could hold her own. When we saw this little bobbed-tail
kitten in the Rescue Village bossing her two brothers around, we knew we'd found
the right cat.
It took a while for Bob and her brother and sisters to get
to know each other, but after seven months they've learned to get along. They
still have the occasional argument - especially when Bob tries to steal food out
of the other cats' bowls. Bob doesn't mind, she just waits until they've gone
back to eating and tries again.
Bob is a huggy, affectionate cat who
loves to sit on laps, shoulders, arms, heads, (or anything that looks like it
might be comfortable). She's smart, and curious, and loves looking out of the
window and watching the world go by.
She's a small cat with a gigantic
personality - we're very glad she came into our lives.

Millbrook
Since July 4th weekend, we have been lucky
enough to have a new addition to our family, that new addition is the deaf
RV cat (as so many know him), Millbrook. Millbrook was at home the minute we
brought him in, he wanted nothing to do with a slow adjustment and quickly met
both dogs, Juniper (our oldest rescue) and May (a RV alumna) who took an
immediate liking to him. Soon after he met our other cat, Leo (another RV
alumnus) who decided he wasn't sure who this brave new rescue was. But as you
can see in the photo these two are doing just fine together and romp around just
like Millbrook and Newt, Millbrook's RV buddy, did in the RV Cat Community
Room. I must say that there are advantages to having a deaf animal; I have
a friend while I am blow drying my hair and Neil, my husband, has a
friend while he is vacuuming. Millbrook definitely waited for us to
adopt him and we are glad he held out for us. He is a wonderful cat and we are
truly grateful to have him.
Thanks Rescue Village
for another wonderful adoption to our family!

thanks,

Louie (now Lewis)
Hi
guys;
Well here I am with
the Smiths in Solon and loving every minute of it. Ron adopted me on Friday and
I whimperd a little on the ride home, but they fixed me a placemat with wet, dry
foodand water . A nice clean litter box,a bunch of toys and I'm as happy as a
pig in mud. I get so much love I can't believe it. My motor is at high RPM all
the time. I really love the hugs and kisses I'm getting, I really needed that. I
think I'll stay right here where I am. Thanks for the help in the adoption
process. Both ladies where very
helpful.

Tootsie (now Rosie)
We want to thank Rescue Village for all they do! We adopted Rosie (formerly
Tootsie) a little over a year ago. She has filled our lives with so much fun and happiness. We didn't know much about cairn terriers, but now we think they're a wonderful breed. Rosie loves going for walks, licking, meeting new friends, snuggling, her toys and playing with her big younger brother Milo (a mixed breed).

Chicken & Peanut

Hello,
Just wanted to give an update on Chicken and little Peanut. I have never had such well behaved dogs, they are my everything. Chicken is such a wonderful girl, she is very toy motivated so we have enrolled her into flyball and agility. She loves it! She goes everywhere with me, including work. Peanut is our little tag-a-long girl she always wants to be where the action is. She also has started agility and is loving it. Both girls are doing wonderful and are an essential part of my life, I don't know what I would so without them both. Thank You, Geauga Humane Society!

Cover Girl & Clairol
(now Razzle & Dazzle)

Hi there,
We just wanted to drop a note to let
you know how Cover Girl and Clairol are doing. Their
names are now Razzle and Dazzle. They have the complete
run of the house, as well as my husband and me. It
took a couple of weeks for them to warm up and get over their
initial period of being "scaredy cats", but now
they are as loveable as can be. On their own they have
decided who will be the recipients of most of their smooches. Razzle
goes to Daddy, Dazzle goes to Mommy. But anyone willing
to rub a belly will do in a pinch.
They already spent their first couple
of days at the Barkley and did well. They were the
talk of the place because they are so darned cute the way
they lay entangled with one another. So glad we decided
to get the two sisters instead of breaking them up.
Thank you again for bringing Razzle
and Dazzle into our lives. They certainly keep us on
our toes.
Best Regards,
Tricia and Matt

Perch

Just wanted to
give everyone an update on Perch, who came home to live with
us on March 8. He is a wonderful addition to our family,
seems very happy and well-adjusted, and has no bad habits.
Perch cannot get enough of going outside;
I guess he is making up for lost time. He and his new sister,
Emma, a black lab, are figuring each other out and he is
trying to teach her some social skills as well as the benefits
of "chilling out." Perch gets to sit on the furniture;
after all those months of confinement, we can't say no to
that small luxury for him. He is truly a special and magnificent
dog. I found out he was at the Geauga Dog Warden since August,
before coming to Rescue Village in October. Yet after all
those months of living in temporary homes with all the comings
and goings of different dogs and people, he maintained a
wonderful open and loving spirit. He shows us lots of love,
follows us around the house, and jumps in my lap when I sit
down. As anyone who knew him there at RV knows, he is also
a complete goofball and makes us laugh every day. He has
a gorgeous bark, and is not afraid to use it!
Besides the fact that he is ours for
keeps, the best news is that his hind leg is healing very
well. The orthopedic veterinarian said the best thing
for him is long leash walks to build up strength in the leg.
So we are walking him 3 - 4 miles a day and he is on top
of the world. His is using his leg much better every day.
I want to thank everyone for all the
good care for Perch all these months. I think all the human
love he received helped keep him a stable, healthy, and vigorous
dog through that long "temporary" time before he
could come home. The excellent medical care he received has
provided him the ability to be the active and carefree animal
he was born to be.
With gratitude,
Perch’s

Jasmine
Hi Rescue Village!
We wanted to write and let you know
how much we LOVE our new dog Jasmine! She came home with
us at Valentine's Day and we have had so much fun with her.
She loves to cuddle in our beds and wakes us up in the morning
with her waggy tail and sniffy nose. She's the sweetest dog
we ever met- even sweeter than candy. She loves our back
yard and thinks she protects it from all the birds, squirrels
and rabbits. Best of all, she loves to let us hug her all
the time. Thanks for our new "baby sister"!

Bones
Just wanted
to send a quick note to update Rescue Village about Bones,
who we adopted about 2 years ago (wow, how time flies!). If
you remember Bones, he came to RV in the middle of winter
- frostbitten, hypothermic, severely dehydrated, and nearly
starved (hence the name). It wasn’t clear whether
he would even survive long enough to be put up for adoption.

I’m really
pleased to tell you that Bones is an absolutely amazing cat
and he’s doing great! His trauma didn’t
set him back much at all. Within a day of coming home
he was exploring his new home and even greeting visitors. He’s
a big, active, athletic cat, weighing in at almost 13 pounds
now. Bones is smart as a whip (he comes when his name
is called) and so affectionate—it took him a while to feel
comfortable sitting in people’s laps or being held,
but he loves to come up for a cuddle at all the right times. When
we came to Rescue Village, I thought we were looking for
a dog—somehow, we ended up with the perfect cat instead. We
can’t imagine life without him. That’s
my boy!
Thanks Rescue Village!

Ambrosia
(now Dewey)
and Sammy (now Charlie)
My
Sweetie and I adopted Dewey (formerly Ambrosia) from the
Geauga Humane Society in 2005 to celebrate my graduation
from Library Science school. We looked at every cat in
the shelter when we visited, but no one quite grabbed us
until my fiance saw an 'escapee' in the lobby and
scooped her up. It turns out she wasn't an escapee,
just a very sweet girl who'd had a litter of kittens recently
and had raised them in one of the Society's office drawers. All
her babies had left the nest and she was just waiting for
a home of her own. It turned out we'd chosen the
softest, gentlest and occasionally, most stubborn, kitty
in the whole shelter.
Six
months later we returned to the Society and found Charlie (formerly Sammy),
an orange guy who is grumpy, persnickity and utterly charming.
They've
made our lives both richer and more interesting. When we
celebrated our own wedding that summer, we asked people
to donate to the Geauga Humane Society in lieu of gifts,
as the Society does amazing work, bringing joy
out of what otherwise would be too many sad endings.

Nelly
We
wanted you all to know how much we have enjoyed adopting
Nelly. Initially, as a parent I suspected this dog might
become just one more creature for me to feed and nurture.
But our daughter has stepped up to the plate and it has been
a wonderful teaching experience for her about commitment
and responsibility.
Nelly
is incredibly intelligent, endearing and very entertaining.
She frequently walks on her hind legs and perks up her ears
(especially if food is involved) which reminds us of a Meerkat.
She also plays ferociously with toys twice her size and runs
all over the house, up and over furnishings frantically playing
keep away with these stuffed toys in her mouth. While she
has come to trust and love all of us, she is fiercely loyal
to our daughter, Jordan who is the reason we rescued her.
It's as if she understands who controlled her destiny. She
listens intently all day for any sign of Jordan returning
from school or an outing. When she hears the car, she runs
to the door and goes bananas. Nelly literally leaps into
Jordan's arms as is springboard activated and licks her to
death.
We have a seven year old male Shelty
named Cooper who is very tolerant of this new "nuisance" in
the house. While he pretends to ignore her sometimes, you
can't help but notice that he enjoys the company of another
pet in the house and he acts much younger since her arrival.
He notices Nelly gets attentions when she is playful so he
now brings toys to us in his mouth in hopes of engaging us
in some hoopla of his own making. She has been a very positive
addition to our home.
Our son Zach who was away at college
during the adoption initially made fun of us for adopting
a chihuahua. When he came home for Christmas, he was a little
reserved about getting attached to such a silly looking little
dog. But within 24 hours, Nelly began to make her move on
him. We knew that when we caught him snuggling with her on
the sofa one afternoon, her charms had worked and he was
also smitten with this little character.
On a medical note,
we took her to the vet within a few days of her adoption,
had her teeth cleaned and a full evaluation. She is in excellent
health and her teeth were fine once cleaned and her breath
is much more pleasant.
We hope her former housemates are also
in good care and want to thank you for helping Nelly find
us. Happy new year!

Butterscotch and Winky
(now Comet)
Hi
everyone! We recently adopted two cats from the shelter.
We came in planning on adopting one, but left with two. I
am happy to say that although Butterscotch was extremely
shy and scared when we brought her home, she is slowly coming
out of her shell. She and comet have become fast best friends
and they play all night long and sleep all day- you would
never know they were not kept together at the shelter. I
honestly love them so much I feel like I have had them all
of my life. Although butterscotch still hides quite a bit
when she's not playing with comet, comet follows us everywhere
and constantly cuddles with us on the couch and on the bed.
I was a little nervous at first never having a cat before
but I have fallen in love with them. They bring so much joy
to my day watching them wrestle and play. My boyfriend and
I know that we made a great choice when we chose to adopt
Comet (formerly winky) and Butterscotch. Comet has come to
love exploring, and we have found that he enjoys sleeping
on my laptop while I am at work.
Thank you all
so much for giving us the opportunity to give these two lovable
cats their forever home!
Sincerely,
Mallory and Ed

Auggie
Hi,
Auggie here. I just wanted everyone there to know that
I love my new home with Mom and Dad Craven, my younger brother
Milo (rescued last year) and older sister Natasha.
I have learned to tip-toe around Natasha because
she is older and cranky sometimes. My new brother Milo
and I get along great! We get to go out to
run and jump and play anytime I want. He is so much
fun. My dad bought me a warm, soft
blanket for my kennel and lots of stuffed animals to play
with but I dissected them all (along with my collar) so
mom has to go buy more. She said she was getting
more treats also. How I love my treats!
Please let everyone there know I
am happy, loved and living the life of a spoiled rotten pup.
Kisses to all, Auggie

Winston
Hello
and Happy Holidays to everyone there at Rescue Village. We
just wanted to give you an update on Winston, our first
ever 3-legged Weimaraner. He welcomed us into
his life on December 13 and he has never skipped a
beat from the moment he leaped into our car for the
ride to his new home. He has so much fun playing
with his new brother, Luger, and all of the fun toys
that he got for Christmas. He plays every day with
Luger and his mom and dad in the yard and you would
never know that he is missing one of his back legs. He
is an amazing boy with an enormous heart and a tail
that never stops wagging. He even helped us through
an extremely hard time in our lives. Sadly, we
lost his other brother, Malcolm, only 12 hours after
bringing Winston home....Malcolm, another Weimaraner, was
just a few months shy of 14 years old and seemed
very pleased to have Winston here. We think Malcolm
was just waiting to meet Winston so that he could give
his approval and assure Winston that he going to be
loved more than he could have ever imagined. We
want to thank your organization for all that you have
done for Winston and for making it possible for us
to welcome him into our family, he is a wonderful addition
to our family and we look forward to many great years
with him!
We
have attached a photo of Winston and Luger relaxing
on the couch. Winston is the one in the front
being used by Luger as a pillow!!

We came to Rescue
Village looking for a kitten in hopes to "cheer
up" our cat Holli, after losing her sister Toni fom
old age. She was 17. We spotted her right away! She was playful,
very vocal, and just plain cute!! We knew we made the
right choice. Abbi, has made herself at home and
is very happy, spoiled and very loved!

Bailey
Over this past summer, my parents had
to put their beloved Golden Retriever, Lilly down and from
that moment, I knew I had to keep my eyes out for that “perfect” dog
for them from Rescue Village. In between barn duty
and weekly visits planning Rescue Village fundraising events
I would check out what adorable dogs had arrived and needed
my parents love. It was on one special Tuesday afternoon
when I was showing my friend Rescue Village for the first
time that I met Bailey. Bailey was a sweet, gentle,
older female that had been surrendered to Rescue Village
and was in search of her third forever family.
I rushed home
to call my mother and described sweet Bailey to her and she
immediately drove to RV to meet her. That Tuesday night
was when Bailey found her third and final forever home with
my mom and dad. I went to check-in the first night
she was there and she was lounging on the porch with my parents
as if she had always been there. As my parents repeat
to me on a regular basis, “Bailey if the PERFECT dog
and no one should count out the adoption of an older dog,
she makes our world a better place!”
Thank you Rescue
Village for making my job of finding my parents the “perfect” dog
an easy one.

She is one of the best decisions I have ever made! She

being a wonderful companion for my other cats and dog! My
life would definitly would definitly not be as full without
her.

My
husband and I rescued sisters Isis and Lily back in 2006.
They have been a wonderful addition to our home, and are
a source of endless joy, laughter, and love. If anyone is
considering rescuing a cat or kitten, we strongly encourage
you to adopt two or more at once! Not only does it give the
cats a much needed home, but it will give you more fun and
laughter than one cat alone.

Isis and
Lily recently welcomed a new friend into our home - our

Al and Thomas (now Smudgie)

Al
(left) and Thomas, AKA Smudgie (below), have made themselves
very comfortable in their new home!
Just
a note and recent pics of Al (a Lonely Heart no more!),
and Thomas (now Smudgie)
We
saw Al in the News Herald on Sunday, and drove out to
meet him that day! He knew from the start that
he'd come home with us!! But, since he'd been living
in the Community Room and was used to being with other
cats, we were concerned that he'd be lonely as an only
cat. So, we also met Thomas. What a character! Both
boys enjoy stretching out in the sunny spots, "helping" with
the laundry, and have settled in nicely.

Vladimir (now Buddha)
My daughter received a kitten for her
birthday (6/25) from her favorite uncle. He got our baby
kitty from Rescue Village. His name was Vladimir, it is now
Buddha. He has added so much joy and fun to the house. He
seemed to fit right in from the time he hopped out of his
to go box. He gets along great with his fur sister Tabby
(our 15 year old tabby cat) and his 2 fur brothers puffy
(our pom-a-poo) and Gizzmo (our shih tzu). We are so glad
that he is part of our family! Thank you for caring for our
baby kitty so well until we got him!

Archie
We
just wanted to update you on how Archie has been doing.
Archie,
a holland lop rabbit, was found outside on Halloween 2008.
He was brought to Rescue Village with an infection, which
was quickly treated. He waited 2 more months just for us!
We were looking for a pet rabbit and came across the Rescue
Village website, and there he was, just adorable looking!
We quickly bought all the supplies we needed because we knew
we would adopt little Archie even before meeting him.
The next day we drove about an hour
up north just to see him and brought him to his new home
that night! Shy at first, he quickly came out of his shell
and explored more. He started off with a smaller cage which
has since become a "bunny mansion".
He has the run of the house most of
the time, but he is not alone anymore. Two months later we
decided to adopt a girlfriend for him (Gracie, a mini lop).
It took some time but they are now inseparable! We believe
it was fate that brought us to him because his name was Archie
and our last name is Bunker! I don't think there's any other
rabbit that is as spoiled as he is!

Midnight (now Sooty)
To all the staff and volunteers at Recue
Village,
We wanted to write to let you know how
much we're enjoying the new member of our family: Sooty,
formerly known as Midnight. He's funny, friendly, playful
and affectionate, and fills perfec tly
in his own unique way the hole that was left when we lost
our Smudge after 15 years of companionship. Sooty loves to
chase foil balls and laser beams, and we're building him
his very own cat condo. It will be near the sliding doors
so he can watch his "kitty video" safely indoors,
from the perch. He's eating well and finding his own favorite
places for his cat naps. Black cats have their own mystique,
especially this one! Thanks for taking such good care of
him until he found us that day in the cat community room.
Love,

Missy and Bear
Missy and Bear are doing very well. The
moment I brought them home they moved into my bedroom and
made themselves at home.
They LOVE
my backyard. Missy stays out most of the day to sniff
out and chase the squirrels. They are afraid of the
t.v., thunderstorms, and strangers. I am working on
all of these. They do like to walk.

At right, Missy enjoys her new backyard. Below,
Bear takes over his mom's bed.
Bear does well
with his eye medication and his ear infection is clearning
up.
I love having them in my home. They
make my house a home again.

Misty (now Sarah)
"Misty" the black lab lost
her home due to foreclosure and then spent time with a neighbor,
which did not work out, finally ended up with Rescue Village. And
I am so glad she was there waiting for me when I came in! She
is a black treasure!
With her new home and new life, came
a new name "Sarah". She is a gentle soul, and the
first few days, she was like a polite visitor in my house,
getting used to its rhythms and boundaries. Her frantic energy
seen at the shelter was left at the door of the shelter.
She was a dream companion in the car, and loves to ride shotgun
in my SUV. I have my own cat colony indoors (8) and
she has been a gentle playful companion with them, respecting
their boundaries.
Sarah
is queen of the yard, and perfectly submissive in the house
with my slightly neurotic chocolate male lab, Tucker, which
he needs. (He thinks he runs the house, but truly Sarah
runs mental circles around him.) She adores my older
lab/husky mix, Haley and allows her to lead the way in outdoor
activities (Squirrel Harassment 101, Vole Acrobatics 102,
and Barking for Joy 103).
Sarah
(aka Misty) and Tucker
Within a day of her arrival, she knew
her new name. Within 3 days, she was crate trained. The "separation
anxiety" that Barnee was concerned about turned out
to be just a fear when being left by her human, with no destructive
behavior involved, only exhibited as a bit of whining and
trying to get out the door with me, but I never needed to
crate her as, just like we hoped, having other canines calmed
her down. After my brief 5 days of vacation with her,
when I returned to work, she was wonderful, once she figured
out after that first day, I WAS coming back, and often with
rawhide treats. Medically, she checked out at my vet's, who
thinks she is a bit younger than 5, perhaps 2-3 years old,
based on her gums and teeth. Her weight is steadily going
up towards the goal of 65-70 pounds our vet would like to
see. I can feel a difference already, it is no longer like
petting a washboard in fur!
Barnee and
all the staff at the Village were great when working with
myself and Tucker when we came to meet Misty/Sarah. You matched
us perfectly! I also appreciate that you offer a
micro-chipping
service, which adds to my peace of mind in case we are ever
separated. My only regret is that I cannot fit more
critters in my house, I'd return to your place in a heartbeat
to adopt another companion! For the small $85 adoption
fee, I feel like I got the better end of the deal!
Again, I cannot thank you enough for
the class outfit you run, in a fantastic facility. All your
blood, sweat and I am sure tears, shows in the care and knowledge
you provide to the rescues and their potential adopters.
I will keep you updated as Sarah has
more adventures in her new life-we’re hoping to earn
a Good Canine Citizen certificate and investigate pet therapy
for hospice.
Thanks again,
Sincerely,

Tarzan (now

Hello,
In the spring, my family adopted the part Bengal cat, named
Tarzan…I am emailing an update on his NEW HAPPY CAT
LIFE :)
His name is
now Simba. He spends his days laying in the sun, playing
with his two german shepherd buddies and kids. He is
an excellent hunter! So far he has brought back from
the woods...snakes, chipmunks, mice, grasshoppers and he
loves to eat spiders??? But most of all…Simba is
very loved. He is a very affectionate cat and demands
lots of petting :) Simba is also very vocal and
will let you know when he needs some extra love. We
all love him so much and are grateful he is a part of our
lives. He is a blessing. Thank you so very much.

The dogs are doing great and
are setteling right in, we have fallen completely in love
with them. They fit into our family perfectly.

Oreo and M&M (now Ziggy and Zowie)
I adopted two tuxedo tabbies formerly
Oreo and M&M. Ziggy is black and white and Zowie
is white and black. They supposedly came from the same
mother and were 5 months apart. My world has truly
been blessed by them.
I lost my husband to cancer and my long
time cat Chitty (21 yrs old) last year. A suggestion
came from my sister-in-law to go to Rescue Village to replace
my beloved Chitty. What a wonderful experience. I
wanted to adopt all of the cats, but Ziggy and Zowie were
the apple of my eye and home they came with me. Ziggy
is the devil, and Zowie is the timid angel. I have
so much fun with them and can't imagine a day without them. I
became a monthly sponsor for Rescue Village.

you for bringing joy back into my life

Poppy (now Sammy)

Hello to all
the wonderful volunteers who took such great care of me while
I was there at Rescue Village. You may know me as Poppy,
but my great family calls me "Sammy" and sometimes "Spoiled" (whatever
that means).
I have four great kids to play with and a mom and dad who
take me places all the time. And they even take me
to a store just for pets. I am so glad that my family
came and took me home.
Since I have been here I have gained
a few pounds (and still have my girly figure), and have learned
a few new tricks and commands. I have even made a few friends
that are men (who would have thought?). Mom said that
if I get better with men and strangers that she is going
to help me get my CGC &TDI. I will get to help
people now! I love to know what is going on all the
time - especially when I am outside.
I think I smell dinner. Well time for
me to eat.
Thank you all very much for all that
you have done for me to get my forever home!

Twinkie & Cinnabon (now Peanut & Trouble)
I
came to just look, I had recently lost my long time buddy,
Waldo, that I adopted from you 17 yrs ago. I fell in
love with 2 kittens that had just been rescued, found under
a porch in a box. I could not pick just one, so they both
came home with me (and my son). They are a wonderful addition
to my household. They get along great with my other
cats & my 2 dogs. I am so happy that I adopted both of
them, they are just great…

"We

Chester (now Brady)
I
adopted Chester (now Brady), a twelve-week-old Rottweiler-Shepherd
puppy, back in February. I noticed him on the cover of the
Rescue Village Reporter newsletter that I received in the
mail today. Brady's doing SO good. He's such an amazing dog--so
well behaved and fantastic with other dogs and children.
(I think a lot of it is due to his socializing while he was
at Rescue Village!) He's almost eight months now, and I wanted
to send along two new photos from his home. :)

Jillian
I just wanted the folks
at Rescue Village to know about yet another "Happy Ending"!
My
dad recently lost his wife of nearly 60 years. We, his kids,
have been worried about how lonely he was going to be in
his house all by himself. He's always been an animal lover
and recently started to express an interest in adopting a
cat. (It had been nearly 25 years since he's had an animal
in the house!) Since I volunteer there with my two daughters,
we went to work looking for just the right companion for
him. When I saw Jillian (a beautiful gray-haired shorthair),
I had a feeling our search was over. Online at PetFinder.com,
her recent "foster dad" described her as just the
cat we were looking for, so I arranged for my dad and Jillian
to meet last Friday afternoon.
It was love at first sight.
What a sweetheart of a cat! They took
to each other right away. She was very calm and loving; settling
nicely into his lap. Fun to play with too. Everything he
was hoping for in a cat.
The
weekend after he adopted her, the entire family was at his
house for a barbecue. She took to everyone right way. Never
hid nor shied away from all the chaos. Nuzzled whoever picked
her up and laid around right in the midst all the activity.
Nothing phased her!
My dad adores her. She follows him wherever
he goes. When he works in his office, she lies on my mom's
desk chair nearby. She watches him from the window when he
goes outside, and is in his lap while he watches TV in the
evenings. They talk to each other all day long. When he comes
home after being away, she jumps on the kitchen chair so
he can pet her more easily. At night, she sleeps close-by
on his bed.
Jillian is the perfect companion for
him. We all love my dad so much, and now we love Jillian
as well ... for bringing some joy back into his life.
Thank you
one and all during our efforts to pick just the right cat
for him.

Here
are two happy endings. Both were adopted at Geauga
Shelter in 1997.
Midday
My magnificent Midday (or as I usually
called her, Middy) was the first cat I ever really knew
and the one who showed me how fabulous they are. I will
forever be grateful to you for saving her for me. When
she came to you she was pregnant. All of her kittens had
been adopted when we were introduced by
her foster mom, Melanie. She was the first cat I looked at,
a gorgeous 4 year-old, with long black tipped white
fur & beautiful amber eyes. To my amazement she took
to me immediately, butting her head against the cage so I
could scratch it. Melanie said this was unusual for her,
she rarely responded to people that way.
Since I
couldn't believe it would be that easy, I checked out the
other cats but came back to Midday & adopted
her. I had to wait for her spaying & when I came for
her she again showed me I was hers, batting at the kittens
in the cage below as if to say "leave her alone, she's
mine".
For the first several nights she would
wake me by walking up my body and sniffing my face. It
was as if she was checking that I was real, she really
did have a mom.
Although Melanie didn't think she
was very playful Middy soon had me involved in games of
fetch--she'd chase & I'd
fetch. She always saw me to the door when I left and was
there to greet me when I came home. She always put a smile
on my face. I hated leaving her home alone and Melanie advised
me to get her a companion, suggesting a small dog would be
to Middy's liking. When I went to check them out she proceeded
to tell me about a cat that had been found on your doorstep.
Her name was Angel and it was love at first sight, but that's
another story. Although they weren't close friends Angel
did seem to help her loneliness. Still, after that when I
came home from volunteering as a cat cuddler Middy would
sniff me and do a thorough check until satisfied I hadn't
brought anyone else home.
At first Middy was content to be
near me when we weren't playing, only to suddenly become
a lap cat a few years later. I was just happy to have her
in my life no matter where she was.
We had seven great years
together, during which I proceeded to adopt two more feline
loves who Middy ended up befriending. Sadly she was diagnosed
with and died of lymphoma at the young age of 11.
Although
I thought Middy was young when we met I've
since learned through my animal rescue work that even kittens
as young as 5 or 6 months can be considered
too old by many potential adopters. They don't know what
they're missing. One of the cats I adopted after Middy was
a 12 year old. Although we only had 4 years together they
were precious and I wouldn't have missed them for the world.
Thank
you Geauga Humane Society and Midday for enriching my life.
As so many people say it's hard to know who was really the
rescue--the animal or the person. Please opt to adopt and
consider an older animal. They have as much love to give
as a kitten or puppy and will add untold joy to your life.
Angel
When I decided my first cat, Middy, should have
a companion I went in search of a small dog, having been advise she would
do well with one. Well, when I arrived at your shelter I
was immediately told about a 2 year old Himalayan named Angel
who had been found on your doorstep. Middy's foster mom was
there and suggested I check her out instead of the dogs.
It was love at first sight. She was adorable. Her jaw is
tilted to the side and she has an underbite, all of which
just made her look more precious.
Of course I adopted her
that day. I kept her name since she IS
an angel. The groomer always comments on what a sweetie she
is & when she goes to the vet they all love her. She's
easygoing & gets along with everyone. Whenever I've brought
home a new adoptee she looks at them as if to say "oh
you brought another one" and accepts them immediately.
She is just the sweetest, most even tempered cat ever.
Angel is 13 now and
I look forward to many more years with her. Thanks to your shelter & my
wonderful Middy and Angel I am now involved in cat rescue. As I tell everyone,
adopting a homeless animal is one of the most rewarding experiences
anyone can have and adults make wonderful pets. Please consider
adopting, and especially consider opening your home to an
older animal. They are wonderful and you won't regret it.

Edna & Roberto
Thank
you, Rescue Village!!!
We
recently adopted a couple of cockatiels, Roberto & Edna. We
already had one male at home. Because Edna kept
laying eggs, we were advised to put the boys in one cage
and Edna in another. They seem to be happy and talk all the time.
Thanks
again! Philip & Betsy

Ashley
Hi,
It's me Ashley. I was adopted in November
of 2006. Remember me? Beautiful gray fur. Pretty eyes. A
little girl about 6 lbs. I was 5 3/4 years old when I was
adopted. My housemate tells me I am the sweetest little girl
in the world. I have places to watch the outside world.
My favorite place is on top of a high bookcase. I am a real
climber. Thanks for telling Bill I loved Meow Mix Seafood
Dry Cat food. It is still the only thing I will eat... yum.
We have a laser light that is great fun. Bill's sons visit
now and then. More people to love me. I am so happy. I purr
every single day. When it is bed time I jump in and crawl
under Bill's arm. I cuddle all night long.
Lately Bill has been coming home
smelling like other cats. I was concerned. I gave him the
what are you doing look. I was worried he had another cat
to love somewhere. He could sense my feelings by the look
on my face. He explained to me he has been volunteering at
Rescue Village to help cats like I was feel better about
themselves until they find a forever home. He gave me a kiss
on the nose and told me I would always be number one. I remember
how wonderful all the staff and volunteers were to me when
I was at the Village. Now I hear about all the cats and am
so happy when someone gets adopted. Thanks to everyone
who helped me when I needed it. Happiness is a Forever
Home!!!!

Ashley

Jazz
It was our pleasure
to welcome Jazz into our life. Rescue Village is a
wonderful place. Every single person was so accommodating
and friendly and actually filled with love. Jazz is
the most perfect dog for our home. We could not have
taken anyone better. I tell everybody that because
it is unbelievable. He adjusted in one day. He
is the most patient, kind, lovely dog imaginable. He's
an extremely considerate animal! He doesn't beg, he
waits for us with everything. He sleeps on my bed. He
loves the car. We take him everywhere.
We bought a big crate, and only used
it the first night. A week after he was with us he
may had two or three little accidents in the house. We
were just getting adjusted. My extended family love
him, and want me to bring him with me every time I visit
them. I even have sitters for when we go out of town. He
really brought so much joy to our family. My two older
children had just left our house and moved out of town and
we have two teenage boys that run with him and play with
him. The only bad thing that has happened, Jazz gained
17 lbs. since we've had him, so he's on a big diet. Can't
imagine why he was at Rescue Village from June till the end
of November. I guess he was just waiting for us to
come and get him!!
Thank you, Rescue Village!
