the rescue village barn – peace, safety,
and compassion to all who enter here
A five-stall barn was built on the Rescue
Village campus in late December 2005. The barn serves farm
animals, horses, and large domestic animals rescued from situations
of neglect or abuse, providing an immediate place to recover
while waiting for new adoptive families.
Shortly after the barn opened eight hens
arrived, were cared for, and then adopted. Since then, the
barn has housed chickens, pigs, horses, goats, and a lamb.
In 2007, Rescue Village provided safe haven for three critically
ill horses rescued during a major cruelty case in a nearby
county.

Quackers
male Pekin duck
Quackers has never had a pond. He has had a plastic pool, though not in the winter. He is a beautiful plain white duck. And just like every other animal that has come to our barn, he needs to go home. In the words of staff member Susan Walsh, “He IS an awesome duck.”Yet, living in a barn is not what Quackers needs. We are hoping that he will become one lucky duck and find the love, care, family, and pond, that he deserves.

Martini
male pony
adopted
Martini was rescued by
Joyce Rice, Humane Agent, after a concerned
neighbor reported he had been left behind
when his owners moved. Martini arrived at
Rescue Village underweight and with a
bad case of intestinal worms. He received
veterinary care and now is a healthy two year
old pony that enjoys apples, carrots, and
being loved by humans (especially children). |
