Rescue Village Volunteer Opportunities! |
Rescue Village Ambassadors RV Ambassadors are volunteers who take their own therapy certified companion dogs to visit adults and children through our Outreach and our Humane Educational programs. Volunteers must be sociable and possess good people skills, as well as feel comfortable around children and the elderly. Ambassador dogs must be Therapy Dog International trained and certified before representing Rescue Village.
Grounds Crew Grounds Volunteers make Rescue Village a beautiful shelter to visit by caring for the exterior perimeters of the shelter and the 12 acres including the dog walking trails that Rescue Village inhabits.
TLC Kids Camp Leader Engage camp participants in planned activities and craft projects.
Responsible for direct supervision of camp participants during all camp activities and projects. Experience with children is highly desirable, though not required. Camps meet during the day in the summer and on the weekends during the school year.
Humane Education Volunteer Humane Education volunteers assist the Humane Education Coordinator and participants at the various humane education programs either in a classroom or at the shelter.
Outreach Outreach volunteers promote the mission of Rescue Village in the community at tabling events. The purpose of Outreach is to provide awareness of Rescue Village, encourage the adoption of shelter animals, solicit donations and promote a positive image of animal shelters. RV Ambassadors may also fulfill this vital role. Must be available on the weekends.
Front Desk Reception Front desk volunteers must be fast-paced individuals who can multi-task while maintaing excellant customer service skills. Front desk volunteers are responsible for greeting visitors to our shelter, answering telephone calls, filing reports and assisting adoption counselors. Some data entry. This position is very important to Rescue Village’s mission because front desk volunteers reflect the image of Rescue Village as a positive, professional experience to visitors.
Cat Care Cat care volunteers help maintain or increase the adoptability of shelter cats by engaging in safe socialization activities. Cat care volunteers also work closely with our staff in cleaning, feeding and tracking the health of the cats.
Morning Prep Cat Care A more specific Cat Care volunteer position, morning prep cat volunteers are responsible for preparing and cleaning the cat adoption pavilion and the resident cats during the 8:00a.m.-10:00 a.m. work shift.
Dog Care Dog Care volunteers not only provide exercise and socialization to our beloved canines but also work closely with our kennel staff in the cleaning and housekeeping of our dog kennels such as helping with dishes and laundry. Volunteers must be tolerant of loud noises and the ability to withstand leash pulling and strenuous upper body movements.
Foster Care Volunteers Foster Caregivers welcome shelter animals into their homes on a temporary basis and provide the care they need to mature, heal, socialize or otherwise prepare for adoption into permanent homes. Foster care times may range from one week to several months depending on the animal’s need. A minimum commitment of six months to the volunteer program is encouraged. A great deal of time and emotional commitment is involved.
